Technical Adviser and Core committee member in child Health, State Health Society, Govt of TN, India
A member of key committees and associations, Dr.Saradha brings to Ekam her zeal and expertise in public health systems.
She is Technical Adviser and Core committee member in child Health, State Health Society, Govt of TN and Member, National and TN state AEFI committees.
A Ph.D. Guide at the TN Dr. MGR Medical University, Dr.Saradha is also the President, of SAMARTH – a non profit NGO in Chennai doing health related research.
Dr.Saradha is a Heinz Fellow South mead Hospital, Bristol, UK: in Neonatology, a Indo-US exchange programme in Cook County hospital, Chicago, USA in Neonatology, an INCLEN Fellow, U.Penn, Philadelphia, USA: in Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Health Economics and has participated in the Indo-US exchange programme in Cook County hospital, Chicago, USA with Prof. D.Vidyasagar in 1993.

Dr. Padma PriyaMBBS, DCH, DNB (Pediatrics), Neonatal Training in Sydney, Australia
A graduate from Kilpauk medical college Dr.Padmapriya went on to do Pediatric specialization at Institute of Child Health, Egmore (1990 - 92) and thereafter at Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS trust Hospital, (KKCTH) Nungambakkam, Chennai.
Following her basic training in Pediatrics in Chennai in 1993 went on for Advanced Neonatal training in 1997 to Sydney, Australia. On returning, served as Consultant Neonatologist for 12 years in Chennai (KKCTH), 3 years in Delhi, 3 years in Hyderabad and 4 years in Vellore. She has helped in setting up Level 3 Tertiary care neonatal units in these different places and been in the field for around 25 years.
She has Special interest in care of premature babies, neurodevelopment and infections.
Dr.Padmapriya has about 6 publications in Indexed journals both National and International 15- 20 paper presentations in National Fora and awards for best paper and poster presentation. NRP trainer and life member of NNF and IAP
Besides her passion for neonatal healthcare, she is interested in listening to classical and light music, poetry writing, photography, reading, gardening and travelling to new places.

Dr Ashol TalapatraC.M.O & HOD (Pediatrics). Central Hospital, Dhanbad.
With keen interest in Neonatology and Perinatology and with several publications and Awards to his credit including the prestigious Sishu Rog bisheshagya Shiromani by IAP, Dr.Talapatra brings to Ekam his vast experience and keen interest in neonatal healthcare.
A former Consultant, Department of neonatology,
Manipal Hospital, Bangalore, and former Asst. Professor (Neonatology),MOSC Medical college, Kochi. Dr.Talapatra is a practicing consultant and academician.
He has done his M.B.B.S from VIMS Bellary in 1982, D.C.H from Calcutta Medical College in 1992,
and DipNB (Pediatrics) from TMH, Jamshedpur in 2003.
Dr Nilima RagavanClinical Professor, Department of Pediatrics Stanford University School of Medicine, USA
Dr Nilima Ragavan is a Clinical Neonatologist with over 30 years of experience. She is Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine. She helped establish and is the medical director of the Lucile Packard Satellite Special Care Nursery at Sequoia. She is also the NICU rotation director for Pediatric residents.Dr. Ragavan has been working with several NGO’s in India in the space of maternal child health and has also been active in assisting and advising neonatal ICU’s in India.
She is currently working on establishing a neonatal critical care transport team for a referral NICU in Gujarat. Dr Ragavan is passionate about education and is an experienced clinician, educator and administrator with extensive connections and ties to India.

Dr NedunchelianMD, DCH, FIAP
Dr.Nedunchelian brings to the Ekam ecosystem his outstanding achievements in the field of pediatrics.
An indicative list of the highlights of his achievement in his chosen field stands testimony to his zeal, passion and research mindset. His notable contributions in the fields of Child Health, Pediatric Research, Education, Welfare activities and organizational work have been recognized and awarded by the best in the field of pediatric publications, research and practice.
His Child Health & Welfare activities include “Community Health Programs organized by Governmental and Non government organizations. A research veteran and Guide to doctoral and post doctoral students, Dr.Nedunchelian is a lifelong learner by attitude and aptitude.
He has countless publications, medical journals, textbooks and papers to his credit, has chaired numerous conferences in India and abroad and is an active contributor to the activities and growth of IAP. He has been on the faculty in the capacity of both academician and to monitor governance of leading paediatric bodies.
His numerous awards include his most recent
“Senior Pediatrician” award from IAP – TNSC during 42nd Annual Conference of IAP – TNSC “held between 11th and 13th August 2017 at Coimbatore and best teacher award from Apollo Children’s Hospital on 25th September 2016 during the Pediatric Update held at Hotel Hyatt Regency, Chennai.
Conferred “Fellow Indian Academy of Pediatrics (FIAP)" in 2010 at the 48th National Conference of Indian Academy of Pediatrics” held from 19th to 23th January, 2011 at Jaipur.
He has officiated at various global conventions and programs with international organizations such as
UNICEF, WHO, World Bank, UNFPA, USAID etc.

Dr. Sanjay BhaleraoPediatric Cardiac Intensive Care
Currently the CEO and Director Critical Care, Shri Indore Cloth Market Hospital, Indore. Dr Sanjay was the former Head of the department pediatric cardiac critical care, MIOT international Hospitals, Chennai and in charge of Pediatric Cardiac ICU, Fortis Hospital, Chandigarh.
He has also been Consultant and incharge of Pediatric Cardiac ICU, Aster MIMS Hospital, Kozhikode Kerala and Fellow Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care, Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad.
Dr. Sanjay’s keen interest in and his current projects on
Low budget ICU concept and Low cost ventilator will surely add tremendous value to Ekam and its mission for neonatal healthcare for the most deserving.
Dr Shankar DasCenter for Health Policy, Planning & Management (CHPPM), School of Health Systems Studies (SHSS), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), (A Deemed University, GOI)
Dr. Shankar Das is working as a Professor in the School of Health Systems Studies, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India since 2008. He has 27 years of experience in public health and his focus of work has been evidence-informed policy and practice across the spectrum of public health and social development issues and strategies. His professional skills include public health, primary health care, mental health, health promotion and professional education and capacity building. He has extensive experience in working at the grassroots as well as at a senior level within Government, academia and organizations at local, state, national and international levels. He has worked in India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Canada, Finland, UK, and USA. Some specific areas of key competencies are teaching, developing and coordinating Masters Degree programs in public health, documentation, research, financial expertise in project development and management, leading multidisciplinary team in development, health care programs and research projects.
He had the opportunity to design, plan, monitor, supervise and evaluate various social and health care programs nationally and internationally. Over these years, he has designed and delivered various training modules to Primary Health Centers, public health institutions, civil society organizations, hospitals, and community based rural/urban health and social care agencies. Some significant collaboration with the University of Vermont, Burlington, University of Florida, Gainesville and London School of Economics, UK over the last several years has strengthened and developed academic and cultural exchanges.

Dr Sujatha GopalPaediatric Endocrinologist, UK
Dr Sujatha Gopal is a budding Paediatric Endocrinologist in the UK who strongly believes in EKAM's mission statement - Healthy Child...Healthy Community! She takes real pride in serving as a goodwill ambassador for EKAM. She is passionate about achieving Global Health in Paediatric Endocrinology and strives towards improving paediatric endocrine care in low-middle resource settings, especially in India, her country of origin. In particular, she is very keen on promoting newborn screening (NBS) for hypothyroidism in rural India, in alignment with the Global Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes network and NBS group of the International Relations Committee of the Paediatric Endocrine Society.
Dr Sujatha Gopal's aspires for excellence in healthcare through education. To achieve her goal she has formed a partnership with EKAM to launch Indo-British Paediatric Sub-Speciality Synapse (IBPS) - a knowledge exchange programme between the East and the West, for the prospective paediatric sub-specialists of South India.
Dr Sujatha Gopal is also the founder member of ABHAYAM, a charity work initiated by a group of doctors from Madras Medical College(1992 batch). ABHAYAM in partnership with EKAM endeavours to support life-saving procedures for medically and financially challenged individuals of rural India.
Dr Anoop RaoNeonatologist, Stanford, USA
Anoop Rao is a neonatologist at Stanford who works at the interface of intensive care, medical devices and informatics. He finished his early clinical and research training in India followed by an MS from MIT, Cambridge. Thereafter he spent over 6 years in the med-tech industry prior to completing further training in Pediatrics (Columbia), Neonatology (Stanford) and Clinical Informatics (Harvard).

Dr. Mahesh JanarthananMD, MRCPCH (UK), FRCPCH (UK), CCT, MSc (Rheumatology) Consultant Pediatric Rheumatologist Sri Ramachandra University

Dr C ManigandanMBBS DCH MD (UK) MRCPCH (UK) FRCPCH (UK) CCT (Neo) Consultant Neonatologist and Pediatrician, Cloudnine Hospital, Chennai.
A Gold Medalist in Anatomy from the prestigious UCL, Dr.Manikandan brings to Ekam vast experience and expertise having worked as a Consultant Neonatologist at several leading hospitals in London – including Luton & Dunstable and Homerton.
With over 20 publications in peer review journals and 2 chapters in pediatric books, Dr.Manigandan is a lifelong academic with a research –in- action mindset.
His Specific areas of interest are HIE, therapeutic hypothermia, Preterm brain injury, Neonatal research and Neonatal nutrition, all of which are a critical aspect of Ekam’s work.
Dr. Manikandan holds prestigious positions with organization involved in yeoman service. He is currently the Treasurer, PUNCH Charity, President (2018-2019), Rotary Club of Chennai Metropolis, Academic Coordinator, NNF Tamilnadu and CME Coordinator, IAP CCB.

Dr.P.RamachandranAssociate dean, Professor & HOD of Paediatrics, Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Porur, Chennai
Dr.Ramachandran, currently Associate Dean and HOD of Paediatrics at SRMC, Porur, Chennai brings to the Ekam Board rich and vast experience in his area of expertise - Paediatrics. He has served as Editor-in –Chief, Indian Journal of Practical Pediatrics between 2014-16 and was the Convener, IAP-HOD cell, National convener ‘Mission Uday’, IAP 2016-2017 and Chair person, IAP-ID chapter, TN state branch.
Dr.Ramachandran retired from Govt service in 2011 having held the precious post of
Director and Superintendent I/C, Institute of Child Health & Hospital for Children, Egmore, Chennai - 8
A member of prestigious institutions and associations, he also has several awards to his credit. He was awarded the Best doctor award –The Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R. Dr. Srikanth NimmagaddaMBBS, DPM (Ire), MMedSc, MRCPsych, MFFLM, FIIOPM, LLM (Mental Health Law), MA (Medical Ethics and Law), MsC in Healthcare Management, CUEW
Dr. Srikanth is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Medical Director at Cheswold Park Hospital, Doncaster. I am a Professor of Psychological Medicine at the International Institute of Organisational Psychological Medicine. He is a member of the international faculty of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics and is involved in teaching bioethics in various parts of the world. His areas of expertise and special interests include Mentally Disordered Offenders in various Psychiatric and Custodial settings, PTSD, Affective Disorders, Mental Health Law, Medical Ethics and Health Care Law and Addictions Psychiatry. He also prepare expert psychiatric reports for Criminal cases, Civil cases, Mental Health Tribunals, Immigration and Asylum seeker cases, Parole Boards Cases and Child care proceedings cases.
Dr.Srikanth is passionate about Health care Management, Leadership development, Organisational productivity and Human Capital Management in Organisations. He brings to Ekam his vast experience and expertise.
Dr Monica LakhanpaulMBBS, MRCPCH, MD, FRCPCH
Professor Lakhanpaul graduated from Medicine in 1992. She trained in paediatrics, gained her doctorate in Paediatrics and Child Health in 2003, and proceeded to Senior Lecturer and Consultant Paediatrician at the University of Leicester and University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. In 2012 Professor Lakhanpaul joined the UCL GOS Institute of Child Health as Professor of Integrated Community Child Health. In 2016 she was appointed Head of Population, Policy and Practice in the Institute of Child Health.
Professor Lakhanpaul now leads a multi-disciplinary translational research group that focuses on Applied Health Services Research, which has direct impact on health policy and clinical practice. Her research program aims to take a cross sector, multi-disciplinary, structured and collaborative approach to improving outcomes for children and transform services for patients. Her research particularly focuses on using participatory approaches to translate evidence into community based interventions to promote implementation into clinical practice and health policy. She recently co founded the cross sector HEEE Platform (Health Education Engineering and Environment) to address complex problems using an integrated approach. Professor Lakhanpaul also holds posts as Deputy Theme Lead for Collaborations in Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care – North Thames (CLAHRC; 2013-present) and Program Director for Children and Young People, UCL Partners Academic Health Sciences Network (AHSN; 2014-present). She has been recognized as the founding clinical director for the National Collaborating Centre of Women and Children’s Health, first Paediatrician to become a NICE fellow and was awarded Asian Women of Achievement Award recognizing her work in the public sector.
Professor Lakhanpaul's research falls under four main themes; Applied Translation of Evidence Into Policy and Practice (through systematic review, guideline development, decision and prediction rule development), Improvement Science (with a particular focus co-production with communities to develop tailored health interventions, working across sectors with education and engineering ), Conditions (with a specific interest in asthma, the acutely sick child, nutrition and disability) and Inequalities in Health (tailoring interventions for marginalized populations). Majority of her projects have a foundation in the UK and India supporting knowledge sharing between both countries.
